Revlon – Scandalous

I couldn’t help myself when I found this glitter polish at Walgreens. It really reminds me of Ritzy, the same formula and look, just with purple glitter instead of silver. You need about three thin layers for cover and a couple layers of top coat afterward, but it is definitely worth it.
I love the way the specks of glitter looks in the light. The previous layers shine through.
My only complaint was that it chipped (or scratched, really) a little too easily since the finished look was fairly thick. But my love of glitter still puts it among my favorites.

Atlanta Outfit

Now that Andy’s back home it is my turn to get dressed up and go to Atlanta for a night. I don’t know what the plans are, but we’re starting out at The Ivy, and I’m ready for a great night!
I had almost forgotten that I had this cute asymmetrical polka dot skirt – and when I found it I had to wear it. It’s still a bit cold out for skirts but with a pair of thick tights I’m sure it will do just fine.
Oh, and as you can see I’m still in my red-and-black phase. I just love the two colors together!
I hope you have a fun Sunday, whether you’re going out or not!

Multicolored Dotted Nails

I was inspired by an instagram picture from YoungWildandPolished, and decided to copy the look in with slightly different colors. Btw, if you haven’t checked out her account already, I would definitely recommend it! Or you can stop by her blog.

This fun manicure definitely made me feel a bit better on an otherwise crappy day. I normally stick to comfort eating when I’m sick, but that is useless when you can’t taste anything, haha! So nail polish it is!
I used Sally Hansen Black Out for the base (I’m not a fan of it, but it’s the only black polish I’ve got), and Pure Ice Crimson, New Lilac, and Heartbreaker for the dots. I think the green glitter was really fun on top of the black, even though it’s a little bit hard to see. I need to try it out again.
Your can see Heartbreaker (the green glitter) easier in the shots with a flash. I love the shine.
What do you think? Anyway, now I’m headed back to bed. Good night!

Revlon – Ritzy

I was looking for a new plain black polish when I found Revlon’s Ritzy (780), and instantly forgot all about my hunt. I’m pretty sure I left Kroger with this polish, some cotton pads, and a bag of chips. I think it’s safe to say that beautiful polishes make it hard for me to focus. I might have a problem.
Glitter polishes is my current obsession, and I especially like the ones like this one, which has a colored polish in addition to the glitter. I needed three layers for complete coverage, because the polish is transparent so that you can see the specs from the different layers shining through.
You need a couple layers of top coat for a smooth surface, and if you let it dry completely in between each layer this polish should look great for days. Oh, I love it so much!

Smokey Eye Shadow

I’ve really enjoyed experimenting with new eye shadows lately, but I still haven’t quite gotten the hang of smokey eyes. So I gave it another shot today and I think it turned out pretty good. I used Too Faced’s smokey eye shadow collection. It’s one of my favorites, but I normally doesn’t go as dark as this.
And on a side note: this might be one of the last pictures you’ll see of me as a brunette for a while. I’ve got an appoinment on Thursday to get it dyed. Wish me luck, because it’s going to be a big change!

Pastels With An Edge

Here’s my outfit from a couple days ago – I’ve completely forgotten to post it. I think I need to eat more vegetables, because my memory has been horrible lately, haha. Right now I’m curled up on the couch with a mocha trying to forget how badly my muscles are hurting after I finally started working out again these past few days. But it’s worth it, right?
I like pairing pastels with something black and a bit edgy, just so I don’t overdo it with girly accessories.
It was way too cold to go anywhere without a jacket, but you can never go wrong with a black pea coat.

Black and Glitter

I used Sally Hansen Black Out for the base and Pure Ice Treasure Hunt for the glitter. I really need to buy a new black polish, because I’m not a big fan of this one. It’s too thick, which makes it hard to apply, and it can get a little streaky. But I still think this manicure is perfect for a night out.
I made sure to scrape all the large specks of glitter off my brush, as I only wanted the small ones. I love how, from a distance, the glitter looks gold instead of green. And I also want to try this with a few different types of glitter, because I think the black background is very pretty.
