Wow… I’ve spent the better part of my day looking into transferring my blog to become self-hosted. I am so tired of not being able to change my design or add widgets for giveaways and so on. That’s what I get for choosing a free blog platform, but now that things are going great and my enthusiasm for blogging is at it’s highest I would like to take it one step further. In the long run I think it will be the right decision for me and the blog. I’ll definitely enjoy the creative freedom.
But let me tell you, it’s all very confusing! I was familiar with the general idea of it, but all the details have me baffled. Now I think I’ve finally made my decision, but it will still take a while before it’s all ready. And until then I’ll still be blogging right here. And don’t worry, all my posts, pages, and comments will be transferred when the change is made. I’m so excited!
If you blog from WordPress and have any questions regarding blogging or becoming self-hoted, I recommend you stop by WPbeginner and search their archives. They have been such a great help to me!
Oh, and while we’re talking about blogging… Right now my cute little banner is up on the right side of lovely Ange’s blog. And she also has a giveaway coming up on Monday, so you should stay tuned!
Now I’m wondering: Are your self-hosted or do you blog from a free platform? And how did you make the decision? If you have any tips, feel free to share them!
Now that spring is around the corner I figured I’d start up another giveaway on my blog. I wasn’t sure what to go for at first, but I wanted to do a gift card instead of the regular prizes. That way you can decide what to get for yourself! And in the end I settled on Amazon.com since I get a bunch of my nail polishes, beauty products, and books from there. So I’m sure everyone will be able to find something new and fun for spring. I actually just ordered a bunch of nail polishes myself!
You know the little widget that most people use for their giveaway? The one that makes it really easy to enter the giveaway right here on my blog? Yeah. Well, that one doesn’t work on WordPress, sorry. But if you click on the link below you will get to it!
The widget will look something like this. Remember that you don’t have to do every entry; doing them all simply gives you a better chance of winning. But you can even participate by only leaving a comment.
Wow, how is it March already?? I feel like this year has hardly even started and it’s almost spring already! Oh well, I’m going to treat this as sort of a new start since January and February didn’t work out so great. I feel like I was sick half of the time, and the rest of the time I was lacking motivation. Which you can probably tell from the fact that I’ve only posted three outfits last months (Valentines, Boyfriend Jeans, and a Casual Outfit). So, there’s no outfit summary post this month; only a promise that March will be much better!
To make up for it here’s an old outfit that I hope to be wearing again soon. In Florida!
However, right now I’m very excited – I think 2013 will be a great year for my blog! I’ve met so many great bloggers lately, which has really increased my motivation to come up with fun new posts. I’ve also realized that my “blogging vocabulary” could really use some work; and I’m finally getting the hang of using Twitter (I never actually thought I would start to like it). There’s a lot more to the social aspect of blogging than just writing posts, and I’m finally starting to appreciate it! Who would have thought that there’s a whole community of us out there?
Through Luchessa and her beauty posts I’ve found a lot of new favorite blogs, including Nykki. Nykki has already put my name up on her blog, and at the end of April my banner will be shown under all her posts for a full month! She has such a fun blog, and her personality shines through in every post. And these are just two of the wonderful new ladies I hope to get to know better. You should definitely take a second to check them out.
Oh, btw! While we’re talking about my blog. My next giveaway will be at 400 followers. I know it’s still a little ways off, but the last hundred went so fast that I want to be prepared. Do you have any ideas for great giveaway prizes? What would you like to find in your mail box?
I decided that I’m going to start taking more laid-back, everyday outfit pictures from no on. Hopefully you’ll enjoy them. There is no reason to only post whenever I’m dressed up to go somewhere, right?
Most days I go for a semi-casual look, but I like feeling a bit dressed up – thus the heels and makeup.
For once I got around to taking the pictures before the sun went down! I like the result so much better.
Tank Top: Gina Tricot. Top: Wet Seal. Jeans: Body Central. Boots: DSW.
We started the day at 9 o’clock to a blazing fire alarm going off through our entire apartment complex… Since we were already awake, we figured we’d make the most of it and get up. So I jumped in the shower and we went out for an Indian buffet. It was actually a great start to the day – it was delicious!
I really hate how see-through my tights look in these pictures. They are slightly sheer, but in no way as bad as this – that’s all thanks to the flash. I really need to get better at taking pictures while the sun is up.
Shirt and Tights: Target. Necklace: Body Central. Shorts: Macy’s. Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell.
We honestly haven’t eaten any real food all day. Andy had a basketball game at 5 and then we all went out for Mexican food to celebrate. And now we’re drinking a smoothie in front of the tv, hehe.
Also, fun incident: We were starting up Netflix when Andy got annoyed that I kept stealing his smoothie, so he said “Xbox, play something Maria doesn’t like!”. Aaand the Xbox immediately starts playing Woody Allan: A Documentary… Our kinect is really living it’s own life. It was hilarious at the time, because that’s definitely not something I’d watch.
Ahh, this has just been one of those weeks! It started when I headed out for a few errands on Wednesday and ended up filling gas at one of the sketchiest gas stations ever. When I was done I noticed that I’d locked my keys and phone in my car… After borrowing a phone and waiting for the cops to get there I was hit on by a young girl with half of her teeth missing (obviously from drugs). I stayed inside the gas station after that. The cop showed up and broke into my car for free, but I can now hear wind coming through my door whenever I’m driving.
Next Andy walks into the bedroom asking “Babe, do you know where your keys are?” I had accidentally dropped them into my toiletry bag while looking for something else! There is no way I would have ever found them by myself (it hangs above my line of sight). And the next day I put my lotion in my fridge… I’m starting to believe that this cold has completely shut off my brain!
Oh, and the icing on the cake happened last night when I managed to get a light concussion… Seriously, you can’t even make this stuff up. So, with all of that in mind, I’ve been wrapped up in a blanked on our couch all day today. Watching movies and eating pizza with Andy. I am determined to get this week out of the way without any other incidents.
I really hope you’ve started off the new year in a much better way than me!
Today has been very gray and rainy, and though I’m feeling a bit better, I’m still sniffling and coughing. So, even though I only had a couple errands to run, I felt like doing my makeup and dressing extra colorful just to cheer myself up. And you know what? I actually think it helped. I just finished dinner and I’m relaxing with a couple episodes of Gossip Girl. And I’m feeling pretty great.
I hope you all have an awesome weekend! I think I’m going to take it easy for a few more days.
Scarf: Target. Top: Charlotte Russe. Watch: Michael Kors. Jeans: Macy’s. Boots: Nordstrom Rack.
