Ciaté Sequined Nails

I got this Ciaté sequin set from Sephora a while ago and kind of forgot about it until now. It was so unique that I just had to try it out. And right now it’s on sale for just $13!
I started out with the pale pink Pure Ice Taupe Drawer as a base coat – it’s such a cute shade. The sequins are so over the top that I wanted the rest of the manicure to be more neutral. There is no pink in the glitter, but I still think I like the match.
I got a bit too many sequins on my ring finger, which annoys me to no end! You definitely have to make sure to brush off all the excessive glitter rigt away after dipping your finger in it.
Afterward I applied a strip of the glitter grip polish to the tip of my thumb nail. When I had topped it off with a top coat I added individual specks of glitter to add a gradient effect. What do you think?
It’s not exactly an everyday manicure, but I think it’s very fun! Now I just want to see how long it actually lasts on your nails, because I have a feeling that it might start falling off after a day or two.

Red and Purple Polka Dot Nails

I’m slowly falling in love with my dotting tools as I’m starting to get the hang of it. So this might be the first polka dotted manicure of many – just a warning. It doesn’t hurt that they’re so easy to do.
I used Pure Ice Crimson as the base. I love this dark, shiny pink shade, and it has a great formula. For the dots I used Pure Ice Temptress, and finished it all of with a layer of Sally Hansen’s fast drying top coat.
I like the dots on my middle and pinky finger best; the rest of them got a little too big as I dipped “the dotter” too far into the polish. But it’s nothing that you can really see from a distance.

Revlon – Girly

I realize there’s been a ton of nail polish posts on the blog this past few days – I’m just in that kind of mood, I guess. This probably won’t be the last one either, because I have another one in mind as we speak. Anyway, here’s the second pink polish I bought the other day. Only $3.99 at Kroger.

I really like the way this looks after just one layer (no top coat). Just slightly pink and very girly.
But I had to see how it was with a few more layers, and after three it covered completely. The last layer should be a little thicker to get more of the glitter onto your nail. Strangely enough it looks almost purple by now – it must be all the purple specks. The polish was pretty good to work with, though.
This was honestly a little too much for me. I really like the polish, but it looks best after one layer.
In the end I added a little pink heart – in the spirit of Valentines day this Thursday.

OPI – DS Opulence

I love, love, love this polish! It’s so gorgeous without being too much – like a lot of other glitter polishes. It really shimmers in the light, but the rest of the time it looks exactly like the second picture I’ve posted.
And the formula is perfect. It was just the right consistency, not too watery or too thick. I didn’t have to clean up the edges at all – and my hands aren’t normally that steady.
Two layers was more than enough, and it has a great shine even without a top coat. Although I added a layer anyway. I might be going crazy, but I’ve been staring at my nails for the past hour. Maybe…
Now I just need to get the rest of the polishes in this collection. I’m in love!

Saturday Night at Home

It’s Saturday night and Andy just left to hang out with friends. Since my back has been hurting badly for a couple of days, and I don’t have a chiropractor appointment until Monday, I’m staying in instead of being social. However, I’m still pretty sure I’ll have a fun night all by myself. You see, Andy took my on a Kroger run to get chocolate, wine, and new nail polishes, so I have plenty of stuff to keep me entertained. And there’s my blog, tv, and video games… Now tell me… Does this make me slightly pathetic?

Oh well, everyone has nights where they would rather stay in and relax. I might even take a bath!
And these pink glitter polishes are adorable. I’ll post pictures of one of them later.

Pastels With An Edge

Here’s my outfit from a couple days ago – I’ve completely forgotten to post it. I think I need to eat more vegetables, because my memory has been horrible lately, haha. Right now I’m curled up on the couch with a mocha trying to forget how badly my muscles are hurting after I finally started working out again these past few days. But it’s worth it, right?
I like pairing pastels with something black and a bit edgy, just so I don’t overdo it with girly accessories.
It was way too cold to go anywhere without a jacket, but you can never go wrong with a black pea coat.
