Miami South Beach

This has been the best day of our vacation so far – and we still have 8 days to go! We got up late and headed to south beach after a quick breakfast. It was close to impossible to get street parking (and the parking decks were ridiculously expensive), but we finally got lucky and got a spot a couple of blocks from the beach. There were people everywhere, but the mood was great and we had an amazing time.

Look at the amazing colors of the sky and water! The sea was so clear that it almost looked turquoise.
When we left our towels to feel the water we came back to a seagull helping himself to Andy’s t-shirt. It moved when we got close, but it didn’t go very far. There are just too many people with food around.
When we were properly roasted we went for a walk along the shops and restaurants by the beach. Everyone tried to talk us into getting a table or give us coupons for drinks. We ended up grabbing an early dinner at a place that promised us 25% off their menu, a free shot, and huge drink specials for happy hour. And we got to people watch while we ate.
When we finally left it had gotten pitch dark outside, but we still went for a walk along the beach before heading back to our hotel. Ah, I can’t remember the last time I felt this relaxed!
Tomorrow we’re leaving Miami and heading to the Everglades!

Good Morning

Or afternoon, I guess. Right now we’re lying on south beach surrounded by hundreds of people, just enjoying life. You have no idea how gorgeous it is here!

Lunch in Fort Lauderdale

Oh, come on people! The poll in the last post didn’t go the way I had planned at all! I thought all the bloggers would be on my side… But, it’s not over yet – you should still vote!

If you ever stop by Fort Lauderdale you really need to take a walk down Las Olas Boulevard and see all their cute shops, and for lunch you need to eat at Big City Tavern. The food was absolutely delicious!
We got so much food that neither one of us could finish it all, though.
I just really wish we had time to stop by the beach while we were there, but we had to keep going to get to our hotel in Miami. On our way out we drove all the way to the ocean, and it was really weird to see people walking around in bikinis among the stores. The city was on one side of the road while the beach was on the other – and it was extremely crowded.

Also, you might want follow me on instagram while I’m on vacation – my username is TMVIKHOLT and I’ll be updating it more often than my blog.

Who Does it Best? Please Vote!

I figured out how the polls work, so here it is! Andy made fun of me striking a “sexy pose” (his words, not mine) at the beach, so we made a bet out of it to see who could do it best. Here are our two final candidates. Who does it best? I’m honestly surprised at how good Andy’s was, but I’m definitely hoping to win. So vote fairly! Haha.

Greetings From the Beach!

After way too much laughing and one too many fruity drinks, I suddenly remembered that I also have a blog to update. And I should probably let you know that this might be a trend during the next week or so, because I plan to enjoy my vacation to the fullest!

We slept in after our terribly long drive last night, and didn’t get to the beach until about 1 pm.
But it worked out well, because it was a lot colder than we had expected. It was beautiful and sunny, but it was so windy that I kept my sweater on for most of the time.
The beach is popular in any weather, though. Every time we have been there people are surfing, going for walks, and enjoying the view. It’s a major tourist attraction, but I like it best when it’s not crowded.
After a couple of hours of tanning and fooling around we were more than ready to go.
And tomorrow morning we’re going to Miami! We’ve never been so it’s going to be a lot of fun!

Btw, me and Andy have a small bet going, so if I figure out how the polling thing on my blog works you have to come back to see my next post! May the best picture win!

We’re Finally Here!

After getting off to a late start (we never leave when we’re planning to) we left Athens at about 5 o’clock. We were extremely excited to get going and sung along to the radio (loudly) – even while we ate Chick fil’a in the car to save time. But it’s a nine hour drive, so our energy didn’t last. After a gorgeous sunset we suddenly had another six hours left to drive. In the dark… I am so happy that Andy doesn’t mind driving, because it would have driven me crazy. I’m better at keeping him company (or at reading on my phone while he listens to music I don’t like). But around midnight we were back to being excited as we finally started recognizing our surroundings again!

Now we’re in bed at my grandparents house (they had left a welcome note on our door before going to sleep, since we were getting here so late). I’m exhausted and very happy that we won’t be driving anywhere until Saturday! Tomorrow is for relaxing and enjoying the first day of our spring break.
